Hi, I’m Charanya Kumar, Founder & CEO of Chittam. An engineer by education, I completed my masters in Computer Science from the University of North Carolina, Charlotte (USA) and subsequently my MBA from INSEAD (France / Singapore).
After 12 years in global corporations, in various roles across program management and strategy, I returned home to India in 2017, to pursue my passion of making an impact in the Indian education sector. After stints with The/Nudge Foundation and Hippocampus Learning Centers, I served as the Co-Founder and CEO of Gurucool Fun, spearheading the zero-to-one growth of that organization. Born and raised in Chennai, my interests include Carnatic music, human psychology, travel, our ithihasas and puranas.
Every time life threw adversities at me, I went back to our scriptures – and all the rich stories passed down to us – to gain the strength to pick myself up and move ahead even stronger. The grounding I have received via our traditions has helped me make the right choices in life; it has been a major factor behind the successes I have had in my professional and personal life thus far. As a mother, I intend to impart the same to my child as well, for the resilience built through rootedness is what, in my opinion, helps anyone successfully navigate through life to find happiness and peace. And I feel it is my duty to take these teachings to many more children, in order to build a strong, sensitive, and successful society.
